I Wrote a Book!

I have some exciting news to share… I wrote a book!

Lost Mount Penn: Wineries, Railroads and Resorts of Reading comes out November 18 through Arcadia Publishing’s The History Press imprint.

This non-fiction book is about how, in the mid 19th century, German immigrants established Berks County, PA as a renowned area for native wines. Eventually, on the back of this early focus on wine and food, Reading became one of the top summer resort destinations in the country — yes, you read that right — before Prohibition led to its downfall. (Learn more on my book website.)

It’s a niche, esoteric topic – I get that. But my goal was to appeal to anyone who is interested in wine, food, trains and/or history, regardless of their connection to the area. There are many fascinating characters and stories of this era, and I did my best to let them shine.

If that sounds like something you might be into, I’d greatly appreciate your support. I’m offering a pre-order through my website, for $20.99, including US shipping. (The book will retail for $23.99.) This sale will run through 11/17/19. (PayPal only, or cash in person.)

It will also be released in digital format (kindle, etc.) sometime shortly after the print release. Though it’s best if you purchase the print book directly from me, I totally get that some of you might prefer a digital copy. (I’ll share the links once they are available.)

Anyway, thanks much for your consideration and support.
